🎃 6 Spooky Dividend Stocks for Halloween
Published about 17 hours ago • 4 min read
Happy Halloween! I thought it would be fun to find a few companies that fit the season and pay you to own them. This is a very quick read, not a deep dive. It’s just enough to put a few ideas on your radar.
3 numbers to know first:
10-Year Dividend Growth: How fast the dividend grew each year, on average, over the last 10 years.
Growth Streak: How many years in a row the company has raised its dividend.
Free Cash Flow (FCF) Payout: Free cash flow is the money left over after a company pays its bills and invests in itself. It’s the real cash that pays your dividend. The payout is the share of that cash going to dividends. Lower is safer, because it leaves a cushion if business slows down.
Hershey’s, Reese’s, and Kit Kat fill most trick-or-treat bags. And, Hershey has paid a dividend for 96 years, but lost their 14-year dividend growth streak when the failed to raise it in 2025.
Yes, Costco sells caskets. The Veteran Honor Casket costs $1,349.99 online, with Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force designs.

Think about it. It’s a Halloween decoration in October and even storage the rest of the year, and thanks to inflation, this “forever home” will never be cheaper! And it’s one less thing to shop for when you kick the bucket.
10Y Growth: 10.2% | Streak: 17 years (paused in 2026) | FCF Payout: 28%
Its 5.8% yield is the biggest on this list, mostly because the stock price fell. The payout is low, but the company is losing cable customers and splitting into two companies.

Greg Denewiler shared a real life example of how they almost didn't buy a popular dividend paying stock. But the most important lesson is that they did NOTHING for 16 years, which is one of the key ingredients to compounding. Excellent episode!

I want to show you one of the laziest things I own... And one of my favorites. It’s Main Street Capital (MAIN). MAIN lends money to small and mid-sized private companies. Think family-owned size businesses that are too small for Wall Street to care about, but too big for the local bank to lend to. MAIN collects interest on those loans and sometimes owns a piece of the businesses too. Then it passes most of that money to shareholders. Every single month. But there’s one catch. MAIN’s dividends...
StockTwits.com That's a screenshot of my very first StockTwits post on October 4th, 2017, and I have absolutely zero memory of making it. I have no clue how I found Dynasil Corporation of America (DYSL), which makes specialized materials and components that detect radiation, light, and X-rays — and is still a micro-cap penny stock. Like many of you, I started out trading penny stocks because each share was "cheap." And by cheap, I mean the cost per share was low — that's it. Embarrassing, but...
I own Agree Realty (ADC) and VICI Properties (VICI). And as interest rates keep climbing, they keep sinking. I bought my first ADC shares on 2/21/2024 at $56.85. My first VICI shares were on 9/22/2023 at $29.95 and I have kept adding to both in my self-directed IRA at Schwab. REIT dividends get taxed like regular income, so the IRA pushes that tax bill down the road. So why do I own them? ADC is the easy way to own quality commercial real estate. VICI owns some of the most famous casinos on...
