πŸ”ͺ Murder, Food, and Financial Freedom

Here's your weekly helping of interesting investing information and insights.

Opinion

Michael Myers has a knife.

It's a big, beautiful stainless steel chef's carving knife. And he uses it to murder people.

Gordon Ramsay has a knife.

It's a big, beautiful stainless steel chef's carving knife. And he uses it to feed people.

Same knife. Totally different life.

Money works exactly the same way.

Spending money you don't have can trap you, stress you out, and run your entire life. Or it can quietly buy your freedom... even while you sleep.

I'm a millionaire. Not because I love money β€” but because I figured out what I wanted it for. To buy time and experiences with friends and family.

Charlie Munger said it best:

"If all you succeed in doing in life is getting rich by buying little pieces of paper, it's a failed life." -Charlie Munger

So what's the point?

The point is making work optional β€” or better yet, recreational. When your money supply covers your cash burn β€” what you actually need to live β€” you get to decide if you work because you have to, or because you want to.

That's the whole game.

Reply and tell me: right now, is work something you HAVE to do, or something you GET to do?

I read every reply.

This podcast from Freakonomics x Search Engine randomly played while I was working and it was like listening to a true movie about how autonomous vehicles took over driving for humans. Solid listen if you have an hour to kill!

Here's your weekly helping of interesting investing information and insights. Opinion You might not know this, but Home Depot (HD) is often called "the orange box" β€” and the market kicked that box down a flight of stairs. Once HD dropped below $300, I started a position in my Roth IRA. Some people have a weakness for women in miniskirts and boots. Mine? Well-known companies whose stock prices have been beaten down. Here's your weekly helping of interesting investing information and insights. Opinion So I'm sitting in bumper-to-bumper rush hour traffic the other day and I'm thinking about Cornelius Vanderbilt and his massive fortune. As one does. This guy died the richest man in America. We're talking more money than the U.S. Treasury had at the time because of the railroad and shipping empires he built. And within 50 years of him being in the ground, his descendants had blown through pretty much all of...

Here's your weekly helping of interesting investing information and insights. Opinion PriceSmart.com Did you know that Latin America has a Costco (COST) clone? I just learned about PriceSmart (PSMT) on the Business Breakdowns podcast... and I gotta say, I'm intrigued. SimplySafeDividends.com 56 warehouse clubs. 13 countries. A family tree that goes straight back to the inventors of the whole warehouse club concept. And yes β€” the same family that helped build Costco. But this is NOT Costco....
